A VERY SOUTHERN BABY SHOWER...........

I had the Pleasure recently of being invited to a True Southern
Baby Shower....
My good friend "Dottie's"......of those mini aprons fame.....son and his wife
were about to have their first child and there was going to be a party....
Being hosted by a family friend who just happened to live in one of our town's
Big Old Colonial homes located off the Marietta Square...
I was thrilled to be invited...
I mean who doesn't love going to a Baby Shower!Wish I could have taken a photo of the outside of the house but I didn't want to seem
Creepy.....
But....When I walked in I felt like I was in Martha Stewart's Home...
It was gorgeous....
So Colonial.....So very Southern.....I took a few shots while the guests were
Arriving before anyone asked what I was doing...

I loved all the bright colors used in all the rooms....
I wanted to photograph the kitchen with it's 1940's apple green walls and it's
Black and White checker board floor....
But I got caught...

Beautiful furniture and Oye!!....the window treatments....I happen to love anything
With fringe!

After everyone arrived we were summoned into the dining room to eat
before gifts were opened....

Every good Southern Party I'm told has to have some sort of punch....
We also feasted on pasta salad...chicken salad on mini croissants...mini meatballs...
cheese trays and fruit salad....
And ofcourse Cake!
Complete with Miss Leah's monogram....

Dottie's daughter was co-host and hung these adorable clothes in front of the
Fireplace....Oh So Girlie...

Gifts......there were Lots of Gifts...

Baby clothes are the best.....
You could tell all the Grandmothers in the room.....As they passed the gifts around
We all had to feel the fabric....and I don't know how many times I heard....
"When my kids were little things weren't this soft"....
Never too young to worry about taking care of the Tootsies!

She received tons and tons of the cutest little girl outfits....

Here's the Mom To Be with a new version of the Sock Monkey....

More "Leah" goodies....a pretty diaper bag...A gift from
Anna's Mom....

Love the Sock Monkey....

PARTY IS OVER.........
this little party go-er was pooped from all the excitement.....
She was just a guest.....this is not Leah....
But just as I sat down to write this post Miss Leah came into the world....

And here she is.....Leah Catherine....
and not at all Happy to be here...

Oh that's much better!
Leah's Dad Chris is an up and coming professional photographer here in Atlanta
He certainly has a talent for capturing wonderful moments....
And to Dottie.....Congratulations on being a Grandmother for the
11th. Time!

Sue, I was trying to follow along and working really hard to appreciate all of your southern observations. So being in full southern form I read your post as:

After everyone arrived we were summoned into the dining room to eat
before GRITS were opened....

Being southern means I think southern...and no southern occasion is authentic without grits!!!

A beautiful baby, whom I'm sure will love grits.

What a sweet baby! I love that last photo with the bunny ears. I haven't been to a baby shower in many years. Saw some cute ideas and what a pretty cake.

Sue,

That is an incredible home. I was hoping you got a photograph of the kitchen since I am going to be redoing this one. What a wonderful baby shower -- isn't it amazing how many things these tiny little babies need and how quickly they grow! You gave me my first laugh of the day with Leah's closeup. Priceless.

The sun is shinning in NJ...finally!

Your Friend,
Deborah

Leah's face is similar to the one I make when I show up at the office each morning, lol. I just love that pic of her.

What a HOUSE!! Gorgeous. And fringe on the curtains to boot! :-)
