40 YEARS..........................

I was doing the laundry the other day when I heard the Boss coming down the stairs to
see what I was doing....
He was whistling which wasn't unusual since we are a big family of
Whistlers.....
It's what he was whistling that kinda surprised me.....
So I asked him if he realized what the tune was......
He said "Ofcourse....it's our wedding song"....
You see 40 years ago today when we married I was as unconventional
As I am today....
Instead of the traditional wedding march I came down the aisle to
Irving Berlin's 1926 Classic song "Always".....
From my favorite movie of all time
"Since You Went Away"
The organist also played the song "Together"
from the same movie....

For those of you who are not familiar with "Always" here are the
Lyrics.....

I'll be loving you Always
With a Love that's True Always......
When the things You Plan...Need a helping Hand....
I will Understand....Always....Always....

Days may not be Fair Always....
That's when I'll be There Always....
Not for just an Hour...
Not for just a Day....
Not for just a Year....
But Always...

It's nice to know that after 40 years.....the Boss may not know the words...
But he still knows the Tune....
Happy Anniversary Boss....

CSI SEARS..............

We had our carpets cleaned earlier this week by Sears.....
Both me and the Boss were a bit curious to see the cleaning guy come
in and start going around the house with a
black light....
You know like the ones they use when looking for crime scene clues....
I felt like I was in an episode of Law and Order Criminal Intent...
The Real Crime was when he handed me the bill and the amount
was different then what I agreed to online....
It seems in the tiny print on their contract they have a
$14.00
Fuel Charge.....
Can you imagine if everyone that performed a service for you charged you for gas to get to work.....
Leave it to Sears.......

Gone......but he will never be forgotten.

We have the best Vet in the world.....
And I wanted to share this with you all....
When Boo became ill unexpectedly we decided to bring him home and wait until
the following day to take him to the vet that has taken care of him for years......
He wasn't in any pain so we knew we had atleast another night to baby him....
When we got back from Jersey in the mail was a wonderful card from
Dr. Barnwell and his staff at the Hwy. 92 Animal Hospital in
Woodstock...Georgia.
in the card was a note saying to stop by the office because they had something for us....
Dr. B had made an imprint of Boo's paw in clay.....
I don't have to tell you how we all teared up when we received it....
What a wonderful keepsake to be given...
The Big Guy is gone but his leash will hang by the front door forever......
For Taking care of our Boo in his life and at his death...
Thank You Dr. Barnwell....

I have been reading Country Living Magazine
Since the 1970's so when I saw their Fair was coming to Atlanta I knew I had to put
it on my Calendar.....
Oh sure Like I have some busy Social Schedule.....Signing up my blogging pals Joyce.......our old "Flour Power" Friend....and
Cheri from Geer Gathering
we met up early this morning over at Stone Mountain Park.....
A beautiful Atlanta day I knew the day would be fun spending it with these two crazy
Ladies....
A perfect setting for a Country Fair.....

We wandered through the trees watching brooms being made.....

And Country Collectibles For Sale....

Lot's of Fall Decorations for inspiration....

Joyce even found every ones favorite fall treat.....
The Giant Apple.

For those people who came to sell oddities.....
There was no shortage....
We stood wondering what in the World these things were meant to be used for.....
Sometimes cheap isn't always good....
Lot's of furniture....

Charming Country Vignettes in the woods....

I told you they were crazy ladies.....
A Shoot-Out in Aisle 2....

I love quilts so I was happy to see them hanging around

These old Vogue patterns were very cool.....
They were enlarged and were adhered to a cardboard backing.....
Hung with wide satin ribbon....
They would look perfect in a sewing room.....

These Santa pillows were so cute.....If daughter was there with me we would have said...
"Oh we could make those"......

Joyce and Cheri yucking it up.....
I think they like getting their picture taken as much as me!!

Great patchwork and vintage fabric pillows.....

Another pillow I fell in love with.....
I think I really can make this one!

Same booth.....different design....

Pretty Awful.....

More Quilts!!

At this point I needed to go to the car and change from sneakers to
flip flops.....My feet were killing me....
Have I mentioned my feet are now 60 years old!!
I was surprised to see Sears had put this tablescape together....

These cute snowmen were handcrafted from vintage
1950's chenille bedspreads....

I had to get one for Miss "B".....

There was this beautiful fireplace in a stone pavilion in the middle of the park....
All of our camera's gave out by this point
as we tried to take a group photo...
We were quickly distracted when I spied the
Brusters Ice Cream concession...
After an ice cream and hot dog break we wandered around a bit longer before saying our
Goodbyes....
But before leaving I leave you with something you could only see in the South....
That's right.....A deer head adorned with sea shells.....

Sorry.....I felt this needed to be photographed twice.....
I hope you enjoyed the Country Living Fair....
we had a great time as usual....
And look forward to next year!

"SURPRISE"..........A Letter from My Friend.

SURPRISE......
Once upon a time there was a Georgia Blogger named Sue who was turning the Big 60!
Now Sue said she wanted no fuss for the big occasion and her blogging friends said Hogwash!
The Blog gals always look for any excuse to throw a party and Sue's 60th. is one party the blog gals all wanted to celebrate.....Plans were made far in advance...There was much chatter going on about the exact date of the party....So much chatter on emails and phone calls that the blog gals were causing more chaos over at Yahoo and AT&T then Nancy Pelosi causes in D.C.
The Plan was to pin Sue down to a definite return date from the "Motherland" to visit her daughter and her littlest clone sweet Sophie.....Joyce tried and tried and one day when they were out to lunch with Cheryl to find out a date...Sadly no return date was uttered by Sue....Usually Sue utters quite often about all sorts of nonsense but that day Sue's lips were sealed....After many e-mails and sneaky ways of finding an ETA back to Georgia a date was finally set with a few days to spare.....
Joyce decided to tell Sue the party was a Halloween luncheon.....Betty (aka Joyce) was hanging out playing with flour for a month to create some edible treats for the surprise 60th....
All sorts of cookies and cakes and a meal of Pumpkin Lasagna were prepared to satisfy Sandra Lee's (aka Sue) discerning pallet....The Amazing Tablescape, which would have made Susan from "Between Naps on the Porch" envious, was set a week before the big EVENT......
Between moving and house hunting...Cheri was searching for the perfect crown to adorn Sue's locks at the birthday bash....Gals rearranged schedules...including some of Sue's home town friends....to be there on time....Cards were collected for a month from bloggers both here and afar....
Everyone wanted to be part of Sue's 60th. birthday celebration....
Ah....the best laid plans of mice and men were not to be....Rose sent Joyce an important FYI...An e-mail from Sue arrived in Rose's e-mail stating Sue's return from the Motherland was going to be delayed....Joyce and Cheri immediately investigated this information and sent Sue some bogus e-mails inquiring Sue's exact return date....Sue's response sadly confirmed the party was not to be....
Knowing this crazy group of Bloggers it was not surprising that everyone laughed about Sue missing her own Surprise Party....Guess you can say the Surprise is on all of us....
Moral of the Story is never plan a surprise party.....As they say in Joisey....
"Just Fagetabouit".....
Sue.....I wish you a Happy 60th. Birthday....
Joyce.

Not only did Joyce plan this wonderful party in my honor she took the time to contact all my blogging friends who surprised me with wonderful cards from all over the
Country!!.........and Canada!
The one above came all the way from my dear friend Eli in Italy.....
I want to thank everyone who took the time to think of me on my birthday and to send your best wishes.....I was truly touched by your kindness........
And to Joyce and Cheri......You guys are the best and I am very grateful that through the
Magic of Blogging we have become friends.....
Because of events due to the passing of our Boo we decided to extend our trip rather then return to a Boo-less House...
I am very sad that I missed the party.......
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
