PONCE CITY MARKET......A Great Little Place in the ATL.

MANY MANY YEAR AGO I WORKED AT THIS BIG
BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN ATLANTA...
IT WAS BACK WHEN "SEARS" WAS THE STORE WHERE
AMERICA SHOPPED....
I WORKED FOR SEARS FOR 13 YEARS AND I DID EVERYTHING FROM
BEING A GIFT WRAPPER...I SOLD FURNITURE...I SOLD CUSTOM WINDOW
TREATMENTS AND MY LAST FEW YEARS I WAS A REGIONAL MANAGER FOR
THE CUSTOM DECORATING STUDIO...
SO WHEN I HEARD THEY TOOK THE "OLD SEARS BUILDING"
AND TURNED IT INTO A SHOPPING COMPLEX I WAS INTRIGUED.....
I NORMALLY DON'T LIKE TO POST "REGIONAL" STORIES

BUT
I DID FIND A FEW WONDERFUL BUYS
AT STORES YOU'LL BE FAMILIAR WITH....
SO LET'S TAKE A LOCAL LOOK AROUND
ATLANTA'S NEWEST ATTRACTION....
"PONCE CITY MARKET"

BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW....YOU MIGHT BE IN ATLANTA SOMEDAY
AND YOU'LL KNOW WHERE TO GO SHOPPING!
SUNDAY.... DURING THIS TIME OF YEAR.... IS WHEN I GET TO SNEAK AWAY
FROM THE BOSS AND GO SHOPPING...
HE'S BUSY WATCHING FOOTBALL AND DOESN'T EVEN KNOW I'M GONE
SO WITH NEIGHBOR DIANNE IN TOW...... THE BIG RED CAR
FILLED WITH GAS
AND
 WRONG DIRECTIONS WE FOUND
THE PONCE MARKET...

WE WERE SURPRISED THAT ALOT OF IT WAS OUTSIDE
AND IT WAS SO COOOOOOOOLD ON SUNDAY.

VERY UNUSUAL FOR THE ATL....
WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON OUR NICE WEATHER....
NEVER TOO TOO HOT OR TOO TOO COLD...

VERY INDUSTRIAL LOOKING...THERE IS A LARGE OUTDOOR
EATING AREA....

ALTHOUGH IT WAS NOT YET OPENED....
TREES MADE OF LIGHTS!!
AFTER WALKING OUTSIDE A BIT WHERE THERE WERE
A FEW STORES....WE FINALLY FOUND THE ENTRANCE TO THE INDOOR
FOOD COURT AND MORE SHOPS....
LOT'S OF CONCRETE AND STEEL....
NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED BUT VERY UNUSUAL AND VERY COOL...
WE SAW THIS THE MINUTE WE WALKED IN TO THE FIRST STORE...
WE DIDN'T NEED ANYONE TO TWIST OUR ARM
AND BELIEVE ME WE SPENT....
INSIDE THE NEW "WEST ELM" STORE......
THE STORE HAS STEPPED UP THEIR INVENTORY.....
THEY HAD THE BEST STUFF I HAVE SEEN IN A LONG TIME...

AND OF COURSE WE ARE IN ATLANTA SO WHAT BETTER THEN A
CHANDELIER MADE OF COCA COLA BOTTLES!
THEY EVEN HAD A LITTLE CAFE
WITH MUFFINS AND COFFEE...
IF YOUR FROM NY YOU KNOW WHAT
"FISH'S EDDY" IS.....
A GREAT DISH WARE SHOP IN MANHATTAN THAT CARRIES
THE CUTEST CERAMIC ITEMS....
THEY ARE ALSO KNOWN FOR SELLING VINTAGE DINER CHINA
UNFORTUNATELY WEST ELM DOES NOT CARRY
THAT...
CUTENESS PLUS!!
MORE DISHES.....
THE LITTLE BLUE HEART DISH SAYS...
"HOW SWEET IT IS"
AND SELLS FOR $8.00
WHEN WE LEFT WEST ELM WE WANDERED INSIDE THE HUGE BUILDING
WHERE THEY KEPT A LOT OF THE ORIGINAL ITEMS
FROM WHEN SEARS OCCUPIED THE BUILDING...
ON DISPLAY IS A MODEL OF THE COMPLEX....
WHEN FINISHED IT WILL HOUSE CONDOS
ALONG WITH ALL THE SHOPS....
FUNKY SIGNS ALL OVER.....
ALL OF THE EATERIES ARE INSIDE AND THEY WERE PACKED....
LINED UP OUTSIDE A BURGER JOINT.....
THEY MUST BE GOOD...
THE LONG LINE WAS THERE THE ENTIRE TIME WE SHOPPED....
THE HOLY GRAIL OF HOUSE WARE SHOPS.....
A GIGANTIC WILLIAMS SONOMA!!
IT'S HUGE....I WAS IN HEAVEN...
DIANNE WENT RIGHT FOR DISHES....
I THOUGHT I WAS BAD....
THEY HAVE BEAUTIFUL BLUE DISHES THIS SEASON....
I TRIED TO RESTRAIN MYSELF BUT OF COURSE
I WASN'T GOING TO GO HOME EMPTY HANDED....

I WAS TEMPTED....... BUT NO....I DIDN'T BUY ONE OF THESE TO
SEND TO "YOU KNOW WHO" UP IN NYC....
THEY JUST KEPT GETTING BETTER AND BETTER....
DIDN'T GET THIS ONE EITHER....
OKAY WHEN AM I GOING TO GET ONE OF THESE FOR MY HOUSE....
I LOVE AN ANTLER CHANDELIER....
THIS WAS IN A MENS CLOTHING STORE....
IT WAS MY KIND OF PLACE...
THEY HAD FLAGS AND TAXIDERMY!!
WE WERE GETTING HUNGRY SO WE PICKED AN
ITALIAN PLACE TO STOP FOR A BITE...
DIANNE GOT A CHICKEN AND ARTICHOKE SALAD ON A CHIABATTA
I GOT A SALAD WITH RED AND GOLDEN BEETS AND A SIDE OF
ITALIAN ROASTED POTATOES....
YOU KNOW YOU HAVE TO EAT ITALIAN WHEN YOUR
WITH AN ITALIAN....
HERE I AM IN MY FAVORITE TEE SHIRT....
DAUGHTER BROUGHT IT BACK FROM ROME FOR ME....
WE HAD 3 1/2 HOURS ON OUR PARKING METER SO IT WAS TIME TO GO
WE HAD THE BEST TIME JUST WANDERING AROUND....
AND HERE IS WHAT I BOUGHT!
I GOT THESE ADORABLE POLKA DOT PILLOWCASES
$10 FOR 2.....
FROM WEST ELM...
YOU HAD TO HAVE KNOWN I BOUGHT THE BUTTER
DISH....
HOW CUTE IS THIS...IT WAS AROUND $25.00
I HAD TO HAVE IT!!
THIS IS FROM FISHES EDDY....
SOLD THROUGH WEST ELM...
I FOUND THIS BIG CERAMIC PLATTER AT A FISH RESTAURANT
CALLED "THE FISH CAMP"....
THEY HAD PLASTIC PLATTERS FOR $35.00
SO WHEN I SAW THAT THIS WAS ONLY $21.00 IT WAS ANOTHER....
"I HAD TO HAVE IT" PURCHASE....
FINALLY DIANNE BOUGHT 4 OF THESE GORGEOUS DEEP RED AND CREAM
DINNER PLATES FROM WILLIAMS SONOMA FOR $9.97 EA.
I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF I HAD TO HAVE THEM TOO....
SHE IS SUCH A BAD INFLUENCE.....LOL
BUT TELL THE TRUTH...AREN'T THESE GREAT THEY LOOK SO
VINTAGE...
SO THAT'S IT....IT WAS A FUN DAY....
GOOD FOOD....A GOOD FRIEND AND
GOOD STUFF....
AND IT ALL FIT IN THE CAR!!
IN FACT I SEE THERE IS SOME EMPTY SPACE OVER THERE ON THE RIGHT.......
WE'LL HAVE TO STEP UP OUR GAME NEXT TIME......

P.S. UPDATE OF THE PCM....
ME AND DAUGHTER TOOK A TRIP DOWN LAST WEEKEND AND
I WAS SAD TO SEE THAT SOME IDIOT DECIDED TO REMOVE
THOSE CUTE LITTLE TREES WITH THE LIGHTS.
IT ADDED SO MUCH TO THE ENTRANCE
BUT I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS JUST FOR THE HOLIDAYS
AND THEY PROMPTLY REMOVED THEM....
WRONG MOVE ON MANAGEMENTS PART.....

Looks like great fun! I love the plates you bought, the West Elm store looks like so many dishes for me to get in trouble with!

You should have gotten the "dumbass" plate for Miss B to give to you know who...isn't that what she called him? Anyhow...looks like a cool place to shop sometime and I love the red plates you got.

That looks like a great place to shop! We drove through Atlanta last week and went to the Buford Farmers Market. What an interesting place!
