HOUSE TOUR PART 2.........the Upstairs!

We are officially moved in after 3 months......
Which means the upstairs is complete!
The finishing touches were put on over the weekend before the big Blog Party....
I was up sewing dust ruffles late into Saturday night....
Because God Forbid anyone walk up these stairs and have a
box spring staring them in the face....
So please join me as I take you on the floor of what I call
"My Sanctuary"

The guest room....
comforter purchased at Tuesday Morning.....I love the color red
and tried to use it through out the house....

red furniture from of course "IKEA".....
the old oak rocker belonged to the Big Boss...

the painting over the bed......IKEA.....$49.00

I love stacks of old suitcases....
these belonged to Mrs. Big Boss.....aka my mother in law.

the half bath.....very Frenchie....
all the framed photo's were taken in Paris by myself and Daughter....

this is the main feature that sold us on the house....
that magnificent Crown Molding....
it's all over the house but is very impressive is small spaces....

I also have a bird theme going on in this room....

The Master Bedroom is so large at over 22 feet that we needed large
furniture....and we found this great set by
Pulaski furniture....
it actually matches a curio cabinet that we bought from Pulaski some 40 years ago...
How odd is that.....

I love the bed.....but it's so high off the ground I had to buy a step stool to
get into it.....The bench in front was found at every one's favorite...
TJMaxx......$129.00

the steps....and the newly made dust ruffle....I found the fabric at IKEA for cheap....

I said the room was big.....so big we were able to make use of that other
Macy's sofa....

I love this chest of drawers....I store my bedding in it....

from the bedroom you walk into the sitting room complete with fireplace....
we are so spoiled.....compared to our other house....
We spend most nights up here as you feel like your in a
Hotel Suite...

the fire....although gas logs....still keeps this room toasty warm and very cozy....

I have a whole nautical theme going on....Sofa and blue throw from
Pottery Barn....

no shortage of space for all our books.....

I made sure when the Boss put that huge t.v. over the mantel
that I had some room for a few knick knacks....

The Boss' den.....

My sewing room....
I claimed this room the day we first looked at the house....
I love anything with bead board....
I knew the minute I saw the room exactly how I would decorate it...

The Jack and Jill bath
between my room and Miss B's guest room....

I hated to put a lot of nails in the walls so I propped up pictures
all over the place....

back into my room.....where all my creative juices come to life.....

it's "Travel Inspired".....
I actually have 2 complete sets of 1950's state souvenir plates...
I had to restrain myself from hanging more then just a few....
My New Jersey and Paris pillows on the bed were gifts from the Boss and
The Daughter.....

State Post Cards on a stand and Family photo's....

I love my sewing table....
where did it come from.....IKEA ofcourse!! ....I think it cost
under $200.00 for both the legs and the top....
I stole it from the Boss...

the little green table came from TJMaxx....
the Fat Swimmer was found at the Christmas Tree Shoppes in NJ......

My State Plates...

And my Barbie doll.....not the original but I had the original when I was about 10 and
when they came out years ago with the reproduction I just had to
have one...

On to Sophie's room....
You know the one she refuses to sleep in when she visits because she
won't sleep alone....
Oh well....it's still cute...

I painted our old brass and cast iron bed this great
Tiffany Blue color....
then found the perfect comforter from Garnet Hill online...
I made the dust ruffle and thought the fabric was a perfect match....

I love using old trunks in
front of beds....
great place to store blankets...

Sophie wanted her room to be Spider Man Themed.....
NOT HAPPENING.....
am I a bad Grandmother???
Instead we went with a Family Favorite of
Tin Tin.....
A European cartoon character....soon to be a Steven Speilberg movie....
We are all fans.....
except Sophie!!

I actually made that figure you see behind glass....
I found the mold in a shop in Paris....
I even hand painted it...

The famous rocket ship found on one of the posters hanging over the bed...

Totally out of order....but I am famous for that.....
my little dog collection of terriers....

A Tartan blanket drapped over the old rocker....

Hope you enjoyed the tour....
I can finally say the house is complete.....
It was the most fun I have ever had...
And When someone suggested I use a decorator I knew I would not be happy with someone
Else's ideas....So Good or Bad.....I'm responsible for the outcome....
and I Simply Love it!!

You don't need a decorator! You did a fabulous job and the best part is that it reflects you and The Boss perfectly! I know how happy you are in your new home. Hugs, Linda

It's perfect!! And, so you!! That's the great part - a decorator could not have done it as well. In reading blogs around, I see that your blogger party was a HUGE success. The food looked wonderful. I'm jealous. Are you getting ready for the big holiday season? Are you traveling, or is the family coming there? Sally

Part 2 is amazing! Impressed with everything you did ~~~ those dust ruffles have gotten my creative juices flowing. Are they difficult to make? I do sew .. but the thought of all that fabric, all that ruffling, I'm having anxiety just thinking about it!

Hey Girlfriend- You did a wonderful job of putting everything together upstairs! You crack me up, not wanting to put nail holes in the wall so you prop frames up throughout! I ♥ the huge master- it IS a hotel suite. LOL
xoxo!! Sue

You did just fine... A decorator has nothing over you. I wish I could say I was done. I have NEVER EVER been done with a house.

I enjoyed getting to see your house in person at the brunch. I still can't believe how fast you were able to put it together like that. It looks like you've lived there much longer! You must be very organized. Every room is pretty. I wish I had that wonderful sitting area off my master bedroom like you do. That was pure heaven!

Hi Sue! Love the tour on this post! It is refreshing my memory of all the lovely touches you added to your home from when I was there at your brunch. Your home is absolutely gorgeous! You did a great job decorating it yourself. I didn't realize you are such a serious seamstress! I used to be one myself in my pre-corporate career days. I hope to do it again more after I retire. I'm lucky if I can get one tea cozey made every couple months. :( You take care of mending that foot...I hope you're feeling much better now. Hugs friend! ;)
