COUNTRY LIVING COMES TO ATLANTA!!

I have been reading Country Living Magazine
Since the 1970's so when I saw their Fair was coming to Atlanta I knew I had to put
it on my Calendar.....
Oh sure Like I have some busy Social Schedule.....Signing up my blogging pals Joyce.......our old "Flour Power" Friend....and
Cheri from Geer Gathering
we met up early this morning over at Stone Mountain Park.....
A beautiful Atlanta day I knew the day would be fun spending it with these two crazy
Ladies....
A perfect setting for a Country Fair.....

We wandered through the trees watching brooms being made.....


And Country Collectibles For Sale....

Lot's of Fall Decorations for inspiration....

Joyce even found every ones favorite fall treat.....

For those people who came to sell oddities.....
There was no shortage....
We stood wondering what in the World these things were meant to be used for.....
Sometimes cheap isn't always good....

These old Vogue patterns were very cool.....
They were enlarged and were adhered to a cardboard backing.....

More Quilts!!

At this point I needed to go to the car and change from sneakers to
flip flops.....My feet were killing me....
Have I mentioned my feet are now 60 years old!!
I was surprised to see Sears had put this tablescape together....

These cute snowmen were handcrafted from vintage
1950's chenille bedspreads....

I had to get one for Miss "B".....


There was this beautiful fireplace in a stone pavilion in the middle of the park....
All of our camera's gave out by this point
as we tried to take a group photo...
We were quickly distracted when I spied the
Brusters Ice Cream concession...
After an ice cream and hot dog break we wandered around a bit longer before saying our
Goodbyes....
But before leaving I leave you with something you could only see in the South....
That's right.....A deer head adorned with sea shells.....

Sorry.....I felt this needed to be photographed twice.....
I hope you enjoyed the Country Living Fair....
we had a great time as usual....

LOL well, maybe if the deer wore those hats people would slow down and not kill so many of them on the road! Looks like a really fun day! I have been reading it that long too, love it! :D

We have to go again next year for sure. Laughing at the shoot out photo and the group photo that was not to be:-) Feel so bad that Janice was there all the way from Missouri and we did not know. Would have been fun to have met up with her. Fun day!

Those patterns mounted and hung intrigued me. I didn't see them for sale on the website so i guess I'll have to make some myself....going to have to go back to the antique mall today and pick some old patterns up! As you say, perfect for the sewing room! Looks like a fun day!

I have been dying to attend one of these fairs! There was one earlier in Ohio which wouldn't be too far for me. One of these days I'll remember and plan ahead to go. It looks like fun:>)

Oh, what cute things. I would have walked off with one of those houses (I collect bird houses), and I would have been temped to walk off with that Noah's Ark with the dear price. But it was a little dear. ;-)

Wahhh...I wanna go...I wanna go...I wanna go. It looks like you gals had a ball! WHAT FUN! So many things to look at. That one quilt was gorgeous and I really thought those little snowmen were a cute use of an old chenille bedspread.

That poor deer would be laughed off the wall here in the Midwest. Guess he is a South Beach kinda deer. Hugs-and thanks for the great tour;>} Diana

Oh yeah! First, Sue/Ohio and now Sue/Georgia go to the fair, and neither one of you invited me. Never mind -- I enjoyed your pictures. All of the quilts, etc. You are right, you would never, ever see a sacred deer head in Colorado covered in shells. That was a hoot. In Colorado, the hanging deer head is a sign of your manhood. Enjoy the weekend. We're going to an antique show in Denver. Want to come? Sally

Sue - there's a nice spread in CL about my friend, shepherd Susan Gibbs.
Her fiber farm started on the Vineyard and moved last year to VA. She's amazing.

Glad you had fun Sue. Your fair looks very different from the fair I attended...South ( love the deer head) vs the Midwest. One of the vendors told me there are plans for 4 next year, that should provide even more regional variations.

BTW, we have the cooking/food thing in common!

Hi Sue- The venue where the Atlanta fair is being held looks beautiful- the woods look amazing. I would venture to say that there are a lot of different vendors there that are quite different from the ones that were here in Ohio. I was a bit disillusioned with the "look and feel" of this year's show. There was so much primitive and "made in China" merchandise. I did make purchases from some booths that sold vintage/antique items- they were my favorites! But overall, I don't think the selection of the juried booths was all that great. I won't return to next year's show, that is for sure. I'll hit some local shows and sales where I won't have to pay $15 to get in and then spend $20 for a buffet lunch.
Did you think the Atlanta show had much "junk?" Curious to hear...

I think that I would have had a very good time there. I loved the picture of the noah's ark, until I saw the price. Looks like a great place to get some good ideas.

I SEE DEAD PEOPLE.........a Blog Pause.

Daughter got a call on Wednesday at 4:00 a.m. from our home town Police Force..... It seems the "Big Boss" called them after seeing women in his closet and a dead man hanging from his Ceiling Fan.... Only Problem.......He doesn't have any ceiling fans in his house... Daughter...... having to make the decision what to do with him.....since we were home in Georgia sound asleep....and unable to hear even a bomb go off... Had the police take him to the local hospital...... Now the BB is heading towards 90 in a few months.... He lives alone and still drives.... We have been trying to get him into an Assisted Living Home for the past three years... He refused to budge.... He refused to let anyone into the house.. We also tried to get him to give up his license....to no avail.... The sad part is we could not get anyone to assist us... His doctor told us years ago that he was a grown man and we couldn't tell him what to do.... So back to the ER this Wednesday he was checked ...

TIME OUT..........................

In the best interest of my left hand I find it necessary to take a short break from blogging.......that nasty staph infection has refused to go away and with no signs of it improving I need to stop using the computer......every time I go online to type the finger resembles W.C. Fields nose.....not a good thing.....I hope I can return soon and catch up with my Weekends in Paris....but in the meantime...remember.....Don't garden without gloves!! See you all soon.....
