HOW ABOUT SECONDS ON THE CAKE??

Company was coming!!
Maureen and Ed...our neighbors who
we have been trying to get together with
Forever were coming for Sunday Lunch
and some Pool Time...
Time to bake...
But not too difficult....I had to make
food too...so having my last baking
endeavor be a big hit I thought why not...
I dragged out my Mary Ann fancy pan from
Williams Sonoma...a gift from daughter...
and with a box of Strawberry Supreme cake mix....
Oh no Sue...you used a box mix?
Yes I did...and it's fabulous....just don't ask who makes
it..
It was either Duncan or Pillsbury...
some Jello Strawberry Cream instant pudding
(found at Walmart)
mixed with 1 cup of milk and 1 cup of heavy cream
which I whipped then folded together...
Some big juicy strawberries and this cake
is a hit...
For those of you who don't know what the
Mary Ann pan is... in reality it could be the
"Mary Jane" pan but it's from W & S if your looking
for one....
It has a big well on top for you to add filling...
The flowers I had bought for the week set the
color theme...
plus I love color....

the table was set from the night
Before...
I have a great dining room but for ease
of serving and for not being stuffy...
I love to eat in the kitchen...

You can never have
too many dishes!!
actually melamine
I love the pattern..
but I really love
anything with Flags...
and all bloggers know you can mix and
Match...
Fostoria glasses along side
glasses from the Dollar Tree.
When I was in love with Ikea...
I think these were $2.99
I am not happy these days with
Ikea...
they must have a new buyer...
Their new selection of dishes and
Housewares is horrific....
a man must have done the ordering... :)

so patriotic!
so 1940-ish
These also came from Ikea @ $1.99 each
They are great to put out around
the Table...
Lemonade...Ice Tea...
Water....Nice for people to just
Help themselves...

my attempt to show you the food...
until I got busy and forgot to
take pics of the rest...
We had pulled pork...baked beans...
cole slaw....corn on the cob...
the world's best recipe for Mac and Cheese...
Okra and stewed tomatoes...
Maureen brought a wonderful
Broccoli Slaw....such a great crunchy taste
using fried Ramen Noodles and
Almonds...
the view!
And the Best
View!!

if you like Strawberries...
Try this wonderful cake...
Even after eating two pieces when I got
on the scale this morning I was 1/2 pound
lighter....
So of course...I had another piece for
Breakfast....
Bon Apetit!!

The cake looks delicious, and the table so purty! I have a tiara pan from many moons ago, Duncan Hines gave it when you bought their specialty cakes. Just like a Maryanne pan.
Menu sounds great!

Magic cake! I'll have to try your recipe. Though I am disappointed that you didn't use the Duff Goldman camo cake - they do make a pink one - you could have added a bit of strawberry flavoring ! My friend actually made one of the camo cakes for a cake auction. She decorated it with an Army "A" - I think you had to guess the kind of cake inside.

Lovely table. You must send me the recipe for the cheese bread - out was to die for.

Your table looked great. And that cake, it must have been delicious. I used to have that type of pan, but I don't know what happened to it. Must start looking.

Oh, the thought and energy you put into this! Perfect! Meant to tell you, I love your garden, too. You're adapting to southern life quite nicely. (Okra and stewed tomatoes? OMG! Only the natives dare to go there. :) )

I've never heard of a Mary Ann cake pan. I wish you hadn't told me about it. My car may insist that I head for Williams-Sonoma the next time I go anywhere.

LOL! You CAN have too many dishes! I have them in the attic, have them in the garage. Most I inherited. Don't have any fun ones like you do.
