CHRISTMAS ON TARPLEY PLACE............

It was a glorious Day in the South today so I decided to
get out the Nikon and take some
Christmas pictures....
We haven't celebrated the holiday in years since we usually spend Christmas
up in Jersey....But not this year....
We will be spending time on
Tarpley Place.....

What a difference a year brings.....
This is our new cul de sac.....
Dorothy we aren't in the "Hood" anymore.....

We actually got to decorate outdoors!!

Each house has rows and rows of garland with red bows....
You know me....I have to be different...
We went with wreaths all along the fence....
13 in all....
A Bit Fancier on the gate....

I've had this ribbon for years....I knew someday it would come in handy!!

I had fun inside too!!
I've been collecting nutcrackers for over 35 years....
They seem to fit well in this house...

I wondered when you were going to ask why the pictures look a bit odd.....

Two Words.......Fisheye Lens....

The Boss said next year...
It's 9 feet tall and it remained right where he assembled it....
Can't argue with the Boss...

a simple decoration adorns Aunt Mary's picture....

Yes...we really have a Deer Head over the mantel...
Most people assume the Boss had something to do with this....
No....it's my Deer Head....
The old Lionel Train is his....

More Nutcrackers on the Mantel....
At one time I had over 100....
Mostly "Steinbachs"
little by little I sold them on E-Bay....
The wood tends to dry out over time and parts start to fall off....

Mostly decorated with glass ornaments...

90% of them have been bought in Germany....
They have held up well over the years....
I started collecting them back in 1970 when we were first married
and took out first trip to Munich...

Love the little clip on ones....

I hope you enjoyed seeing our Home........
We just seem to wander around from room to room and comment how this house
was made for Christmas decorations.....
Happy to Finally be "Home"....

Everything looks festive. Was it fun to find places for all of your decorations in a new home? Your new home is just stunning.

I have been meaning to get back to you about the willow furniture. Mine is comming apart, but it has been outside for 10 yrs. I really should have brought it in out of the harsh New England winters. It would have been better off. Not to mention the squirrels pulled the bark off in the winter. I can't seem to find any twig furniture up here to replace it. I just love the look of it.

Sue, Merry Christmas!! Your house looks wonderful and welcoming, and the nutcrackers and the Boss's train are perfect with "Rudolph" over the mantel. :) Hey, is that a NJ deer?
Of course, I LOVE your bench in the entry with the tartan throw and wellies. Love seeing all your great decorations. Have a great Tarpley Place Christmas.

Boy! "House Hunters" really missed out. I'm so tired of those young things thinking that they need their forever, dream house right then. You would have been perfect - waiting so long for your forever house. Of course, I love your blown glass ornaments. I loved Munich this past summer - the museum complex especially was great. Didn't buy anything in Munich - my Christmas souvenir came from Rothemburg. I'm all for individualism - glad you bucked the neighborhood decorations. Take care, Sally

Everything is so lovely, cheerful and warm. Your home is beautiful and inviting. Love the wreaths outside and the fact that you did what you wanted...such a leader! You go girl! Your neighborhood reminds me of homes I've seen in Alpharetta, GA. Do you live in that area?

I SEE DEAD PEOPLE.........a Blog Pause.

Daughter got a call on Wednesday at 4:00 a.m. from our home town Police Force..... It seems the "Big Boss" called them after seeing women in his closet and a dead man hanging from his Ceiling Fan.... Only Problem.......He doesn't have any ceiling fans in his house... Daughter...... having to make the decision what to do with him.....since we were home in Georgia sound asleep....and unable to hear even a bomb go off... Had the police take him to the local hospital...... Now the BB is heading towards 90 in a few months.... He lives alone and still drives.... We have been trying to get him into an Assisted Living Home for the past three years... He refused to budge.... He refused to let anyone into the house.. We also tried to get him to give up his license....to no avail.... The sad part is we could not get anyone to assist us... His doctor told us years ago that he was a grown man and we couldn't tell him what to do.... So back to the ER this Wednesday he was checked ...

TIME OUT..........................

In the best interest of my left hand I find it necessary to take a short break from blogging.......that nasty staph infection has refused to go away and with no signs of it improving I need to stop using the computer......every time I go online to type the finger resembles W.C. Fields nose.....not a good thing.....I hope I can return soon and catch up with my Weekends in Paris....but in the meantime...remember.....Don't garden without gloves!! See you all soon.....
