HOUSE HUNTERS.......He Likes, She Likes.

If you have been reading this blog for any length of time
You know we love to look at houses.....
To be fair....We Really will be Buying another House......eventually....
In the meantime we drive Realtors up and down the Eastern Seaboard crazy showing us
potential properties.....
As I have said before....
We are "Professional House Hunters"...
You can read about our previous exploits......Here.
We usually look in and around the Jersey Shore....
But when we recently saw that prices right here in town were dropping like a rock
And we do have rock bottom low taxes...
Well.....we thought we would take a look...
Focusing on a particular Sub-Division that we have loved since it was built around 2000
We set up an appointment with a Realtor....
She showed us Three homes....Just like the Real House Hunters....
The third house....although on a lake......Was something short of horrible....
Here are the other two....
See you if you can guess which one I loved and which one was the
Boss' Favorite.....
This first home could pass for a Decorator's Showhouse....
A five Bedroom......Four and a Half Bath
The house itself is set on a Street that goes up a Mountain
With views all the way out to Alabama....
Most of the home was done in the color you see here.....A gorgeous Plum.
even the Oriental Carpets were Plum.
Monograms were everywhere...

Plum leather seats on the Dining Room chairs...
The ceiling was painted to look like leather.
The drapes were "puddled" like there was a flood....

The Breakfast Room....

The Living Room....with marble Fireplace surround

The Master Bedroom on the ground floor....
More Plum area rugs...

I had to take a picture of all these beautiful pillows....
I was Smitten...

Exercise room in the lower level....

At the Entrance to the Lower level Family Room.....

Outside the Entrance to the Family Room....

One half of the Lower Level family Room.....

The "Man" Half.

And the Female Half....
A beautiful Hutch.
There was also a full size home office on this level...
One of the Upstairs Bedrooms...
Very Shabby Chic.

They called this room the Second Master....
It did have a huge Master Bath...
Don't you just love the sleigh beds...
This was the sitting room off the second floor hallway....
Very girlie...

The room had these great bookcases....
And a fireplace...
The Realtor was not impressed....She thought the house was too
"Cluttered"....
Oh...did I mention there were hand paintings on alot of the walls...

How cute is this....

And last but not least the Laundry Room....
I did comment to the Realtor
"Who lives like this.....with the entire house color coordinated"....
It was very impressive....
And on the other side of the Street was house number 2.......

The entrance Hall with the Boss off in the distance.....
He was looking out the Family Room window at the drop down the side of the
Mountain....
This house was vacant...
So no Eye Candy...
The first floor
The Kitchen and Family Room....
Nice wide hardwoods throughout the first floor and all the staircases....
Yes....there were tons of staircases...
Looking into the Kitchen.....
That double oven would have to go....
And it had outdated counter tops....
A plus were two huge pantries..
Looking into the Dining Room from the Kitchen/Family Room....
There is a nice size deck off this room with a cathedral ceiling and multiple ceiling fans.......

The view from one of the decks....it was overcast that day....
On a clear day you can see Stone Mountain....
A Famous Georgia tourist destination...
Looking down from the Master Bedroom deck....the pool is
balanced on the side of the mountain....

The "Keeping Room".....off the Kitchen...
Somebody took the fireplace surround with them??

Hall Half Bath on the main level....
With Antique Oak vanity...

The entire house.....all 8,000 sq. feet had different
Antique doors on each of the Rooms...

A child's Room...
not just a window seat with a view...
but they made it large enough to house a twin size bed.....
The room was huge....
You could fit six twin beds in it....
The sitting room off the Master Bedroom...

The Lower level....
with another bedroom off to the left....
and a Screening Room up some stairs to the right....

The Boss was amazed at how that double deck on the left is being held up with just a few
wooden posts....

The pool is heated and has an attached spa on the other side of the stone wall...

Okay....So that's our House Hunters Tour....
Can you figure out which one I like and which house the Boss
likes....
I'll give you a clue....
It's in the photographs....
And for my Atlanta Area Blogging Friends....
Blogger Lynn over at
House and Garden Boutique
in Woodstock
is having Free decorating classes coming this fall....
You can go to her Blog site and see the classes and the schedule to sign up.....
Space is limited to sign up soon....

I'm guessing you liked the first house? They both have great potential to make your own, and both are far grander than my little cottage!

Number 1 ! But those houses are way too big! What does it cost to cool them? The upkeep must be enormous!

You do know House hunters is fake.
My friend was on. They got 500 to do it. They had already bought and moved into the house when it was shown.
Maybe you saw it? It was out here, they had big dogs, and at the end they showed a gorgeous Mobile home they use to go to dog shows.

I think he liked the first one and you liked the second one.

I like the second one anyway.

I hope you buy it and stay here so I can quit worrying!!!!

So you were plum smitten, huh?!

On one of our moves, it took a looooong time to find the right house. The realtor finally asked were we really going to buy or just kickin' tires.

I'm guessing you picked the plum mansion and your husband the other.

Thought you might be moving north. Of course, those houses in NJ might cost a fortune and the taxes, well you know, a bit outrageous.

I am guessing you picked house # 2 and your husband like #1. I am basing my guess on the fact that I loved the second house...:-)

But now after seeing all of the "M"'s I bet you loved the first one....hmmmm

My vote is you love house #2 since you showed the kitchen and didn't show it from house #1. I know that has to be your favorite room since you love to cook. So that's my guess!! Just don't move away from Georgia and I'm happy!!

You did NOT like the plum house... I know your favorite color is red!

Well, my choice would have been #2...plum just freaks me out and if I puddled my drapes on the floor, I have one cat that would mistake it for a litter box.

All in all, the houses are way too big for me! who wants to clean this...

I'm guessing you liked #1 and Hubs liked #2. Your comments just seemed more enthusiastic about #1.

Sue,

It's all in the pictures? I say you are the Grape Nut and The Boss likes the room with the view. I would pick # 2. I like the different antique doors and the antique oak vanity. I know you would be tempted to dive from your balcony into the pool below. So tell us, tell us. Which was it?

Your Friend,
Deborah

Well, I'm DYING to know!!! Both were lovely but I think you were turned off by all the plum & thus were leaning towards #2. It doesn't look like your DH was impressed with the construction on that one, so he probably preferred #1.
You MUST promise to answer this question for us soon. In the meantime, thanks for taking us on both tours. I enjoy seeing other people's ideas. Just like blogging!!

You...1...him...2? We also love to look at houses, but I have to tell you that the prices at the Jersey Shore are not that much lower. I guess it is all relative...my dream still is and probably always will be to have a huge home with a wrap around porch with a view of the ocean...sigh.

Whew.... You could easily fit four of my houses in one of those homes. HUGE! The cottage here is teeny...

I think you went for the purple/monogrammed number?? I don't know about the deck on the other one and the Wee Beauty.... Danger.

Spencer
