Say a prayer today for Morty Franks family. My son wore his hand me down suits for years and when Morty perished in the tower that sunny day my son joined the Army and now puts on an army suit in memory of his pal Morty. I can't even post about this and our family has been crying all week. It is like a huge scab on our heart that gets pulled off every year. We all now know the meaning of the term "Living Nightmare". Ironic how it is raining tears in NYC today. Joyce
In the evening of September 10th, my brother in law received a phone call from his boss. He didn't need to go to the Trade Towers for the presentation on the 11th. Another man was taking his place.
My brother was packing up tools here in Ontario Canada, to head to New York that day. His company installs windows in highrises and they had just got a big job. I left work and we watched the second plane hit on tv together. I will never forget.
Things happen for a reason... we all know that. How lucky that H decided to come home at that particular time. A very good friend from back home lost her one brother in-law as he was a NYC firefighter, never found him. It was a day I don't think any of us will ever forget.
What a relief it must have been to have 'daughter' home that day. Just think how your life would have changed if she had been in NY. What a blessing, but a reminder for us to remember all of those those that were there. Sally
Never forget...I dread this day every year...the friends we lost...the near misses..my son was in Logan airport that morning sched to fly out...hours before we knew if he was on that plane..still remember the sick feeling, they had just had their first child....(they have 4 now :) And so many kids here who lost their parents..a horrific day for the US...
EVERYONE ALWAYS HEARS ABOUT LOS ANGELES' HORRIBLE TRAFFIC...... NOW I REALIZE THEY MEAN THE HIGHWAYS.....BUT.... I GIVE YOU DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES TRAFFIC... IN THE FIVE DAYS WE WERE IN CALIFORNIA WE EXPERIENCED ZERO TRAFFIC.... AND YES WE DID DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAYS.... I CAN'T EXPLAIN IT..... NOW YOU WANT TO TALK TRAFFIC....SEE ALL THOSE CARS.... THEY ARE PARKED...AND THEIR PASSENGERS WERE ALL OUT WALKING.... WHAT I WOULD GUESS TO BE A 2 MILE WALK.....UPHILL... TO THIS.... THE GRIFFITH OBSERVATORY...... UNBELIEVABLE..... HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE.... CARS AS FAR AS THE EYE COULD SEE.... AND PEOPLE WALKING.... LIKE IF YOU MADE IT TO THE TOP SOMEONE WOULD GIVE YOU A MILLION DOLLARS.....OR IN MY CASE.... TOM SELLECK IN THE BUFF...... THANK GOODNESS FOR THE "HANDICAPABLE" TAG... WE JUST FLASHED THAT PUPPY AND DROVE STRAIGHT TO THE TOP AND GOT THE LAST PARKING SPACE RIGHT OUT IN FRONT.... HEY...YOU'VE ALL SEEN MY WONKY FOOT!! I SEEM TO THINK THEY WER...
Daughter got a call on Wednesday at 4:00 a.m. from our home town Police Force..... It seems the "Big Boss" called them after seeing women in his closet and a dead man hanging from his Ceiling Fan.... Only Problem.......He doesn't have any ceiling fans in his house... Daughter...... having to make the decision what to do with him.....since we were home in Georgia sound asleep....and unable to hear even a bomb go off... Had the police take him to the local hospital...... Now the BB is heading towards 90 in a few months.... He lives alone and still drives.... We have been trying to get him into an Assisted Living Home for the past three years... He refused to budge.... He refused to let anyone into the house.. We also tried to get him to give up his license....to no avail.... The sad part is we could not get anyone to assist us... His doctor told us years ago that he was a grown man and we couldn't tell him what to do.... So back to the ER this Wednesday he was checked ...
In the best interest of my left hand I find it necessary to take a short break from blogging.......that nasty staph infection has refused to go away and with no signs of it improving I need to stop using the computer......every time I go online to type the finger resembles W.C. Fields nose.....not a good thing.....I hope I can return soon and catch up with my Weekends in Paris....but in the meantime...remember.....Don't garden without gloves!! See you all soon.....
