HEY LADY.....THERE'S A MOOSE IN YOUR HOUSE.

Image
OUR MOOSE.......He's from 1912...he appears to have died with a smile on his face. We found him at the Scott's Antique Market in Atlanta.....I know he's dusty, it's hard to dust a dead moose! My Uncle Ray's old oak icebox....we took out the wood in the door and replaced it with glass. A very cozy room when the stove is fired up... original Pennsylvania calendar prints circa 1950's.......nine of them hang on our great room wall. The fall mantel....the New Jersey license plate was the prototype for their Barnegat Lighthouse issue....The initials just happen to be mine. Husband got it for me on E-Bay... our pumpkins..... View from Above..... My favorite wall in the house....lots of memories.... Kitchen stuff....and stuff and more stuff....... Copper Pots! used every day.....polished every time .... my favorite cookie jar of all time..... Vintage Howard Johnson's diner china.....another E-Bay find.....I have more diner china then you can count....I could...

DINNER FIT FOR A POOCH..........

Image
Yes.....I made a whole roasting chicken for the dog. Yes I did.......Poor Boopie has been under the weather the last couple of days. I was telling Necie on our walk yesterday that he just wasn't looking right. You could see it in his face and in his eyes. She thought I was totally crazy and asked how can you tell that a dog doesn't look right when all there is is a big black nose, 2 eyes and lots of fur......She's not a dog person. Dog people will understand. You can just tell.....Late last night we discovered that the mystery allergy rash is back....all over his under carriage. Not a pretty sight. I was able to get an appointment at the Lady-Vet today and I must say....all vets should be women. They just have that special something that animals trust them completely. After some shaving and some spraying, lots of meds and one of those wacky collars so he won't bite at himself I just had to stop at Publix on the way home and get him something special for dinner. He has ...

UPCOMING ELECTION TAKES A CUE FROM AMERICAN IDOL......

Image
In the interest of the good of the country and certainly not wanting to discuss politics I must pass this story on to the people because it's just too crazy........and just in case you missed it on the news tonight. It seems up in Ohio the more you vote the more your guy has a chance of getting elected......On tonight's news they interviewed 19 year old Freddie Johnson who said he didn't know it was against the law to register to vote 73 times.....73 TIMES................he was just helping the folks out. The folks being the Acorn organization. They had hearings today in Ohio and Freddie was not the only one to come forward. Some people registered 18 19 times...What they forgot to tell you was that in Ohio you can now register and vote in the same day, no ones checking the I'D's.........So I guess they are using the American Idol voting system.....there's only one major difference....American Idol doesn't tell you who to vote for.......and that's the las...

MEATBALL PARMESAN ON A HOT HOAGIE ROLL WITH A SIDE OF SAUCE........

"EVERYTHING'S GONNA TASTE LIKE SAUSAGE......

These were the words of wisdom today from the Big Boss up in Jersey....you remember the Big Boss, he's the one that made talking an Olympic Endurance sport. It wasn't all that bad I got off the phone fairly quick and he was in a very spirited mood, which is odd because he is not exactly Mr. Congeniality.............. But I thought about what he said that all the meat products I bought yesterday at the Sausage Chalet were going to all taste like sausage. He did have a point since everything is housed in the same glass case. I began to wonder how chicken tenders were going to taste like Kielbasa and am I going to have to serve them with sauerkraut? Daaaaaaaaaaaaad is a senior baker....he loves to make cheesecake and chocolate chip cookies to bring to all his little old lady friends and the folks at the local bank, but on occasion he forgets ingredients....like sugar! I will leave that story for another day but he does have an interest in food and cooking so I can always have some...

BOOKS AND WEINERS..........

After the big book sale Me and Miss N. traveled a bit farther and found ourselves at the Sausage Capital of the South......better known as Patak's Sausage Chalet. Hidden among a residential neighborhood and a junk yard it's a little bit of Bavaria and a whole lotta sausage. I have been there before but it was Big D's first time. Picture a small lobby of your local post office then fill it with 30 people and lots of meat. I wasn't overly impressed on past visits but this time scored a winner. For all of $26.oo I left with 2 pounds of sausage, one Italian sweet and one breakfast style, one pound of chicken tenders, a pound of pork schnitzel, a pound of deli corned beef, 1/2 pound of beautiful looking baked ham, one pound of beef wienies and a big block of muenster cheese.....for $26.00! we decided this was worth the trip and plan on going back soon......we also brought along a cooler with ice which allowed us to stop for a Frankie's Pizza on the ride home....always th...

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE!!

Image
Today was one of the two days of the year that I really enjoy living in Atlanta...did I really just say that? Today was the bi-annual Friends of the Marietta Library book sale. It has gotten so large that they actually had to move it from the main branch of the library out to the fairgrounds. Housed in two large hanger type buildings it's a true treasure trove of every book imaginable...No big deal right, all book sales have tons of books. But these are really cheap books. All hard backs are $1.00...all video's and DVD's are a $1.00 and paperbacks are 50 cents...no exceptions, so surprises..well a few exceptions, there were a handful of really old books that were $5.00.............Me and Necie broke with tradition and left the house at 8:00a.m. (we are both late sleepers, this could have been a shock to our system)to get there when the doors opened at 9:00.... We ignored the little old man directing traffic and pulled right up next to entrance. There was a big line forming ...
