| I love Ina Garten for being able to make a party with just two people... Her and Jeffrey don't need to entertain a Crowd to Celebrate just about anything.... We are only a family of Four....... Just us 3 Adivari's plus Miss B... And we don't always get to spend special occasions with our girls.... I always prepare a dinner like I'm feeding forty.... and I always set a festive table.... |

| This was the first room in our house that was completely decorated the second day after we moved in... All furniture is from Crate and Barrel... every piece of Milk Glass was unwrapped... pre-washed.....and displayed... in those first two days... |

Apple Onion Soup Topped with Cheese Puff Pastry Lemon/Rosemary Roasted Turkey with Apple and Mushroom Stuffing Ranch Mashed Potatoes with Gravy Nutmeg infused rutabaga Cranberry sauce with orange made in a copper mold... French Green beans with Shallots Dessert.. Snickerdoodle Cheesecake with Cherries Traditional Pumpkin Pie with Fresh Whipped Cream Mini Caramel Apples with walnuts Homemade Caramel Corn You can Stop right here or................ For those of you who have the patience to continue Reading...I will Bore you with one of my Infamous Family Stories... I know there are a few of you out there that Actually enjoy reading about what a Nutty Bunch we are.... For years While I was growing up My Mother always got a Free Turkey from the Department Store she worked at in Elizabeth New Jersey.... One of my Brothers who is a lot older then myself was married at the time and lived in Red Lion Pennsylvania... He was married to Carol.... Who my Mother always referred to as 'The Sicilian Devil" My Father....who was very quiet...never voiced his opinion about the DIL but you knew He was NOT fond of her either.... The only way the Folks got an Annual Invite to Red Lion was with the Stipulation that the Turkey come with them......Cooked. So My mother would have to get up at 3:00A.M. to Put the Turkey in the oven so it would be cooked by the time they had to make the 3 hour drive From Jersey to Pennsylvania.... I can't tell you how many years this went on for... And every year Millie would Bitch and Siggy would mumble something under his Breath... Fast Forward many years to the year 2000. Daughter was in Law School up in Ithaca and decided to make her first Thanksgiving Dinner for the boyfriend... She heard for years that Grandma would get up at 3:00 a.m. to cook the Turkey.... I guess I failed to tell her why.... So daughter started cooking her turkey that day at 3:00 a.m......and of course by 8:00 a.m. it was ready to eat.... I also failed to tell her how many pounds of potatoes you need to feed two people... She made the whole Five pound Bag.... She called me in a panic... She very rarely since then has asked me for cooking advice.... Bon Apetit!! And for some reason I did not realize you were from Elizabeth. I have an historical connection to the town through a ggggggg uncle named the Rev, James Caldwell aka The Fighting Parson of American Revolution fame. Caldwell, NJ was named for him after he and his wife were martyred. His home and his church were burned by the British in Elizabeth which was Elizabeth Towm back then.

Our Thanksgiving will be 3 this year, and all three of us decided that we really don't like turkey. So this year we are having osso bucco, and either polenta or risotto.
Okay I hope I can remember everything - okay the plates with he turkey on it from Old Time Pottery - I love. The photos of your home does not really do it justice - in person is even more beautiful. And your cooking tops that! You r home is beautiful!! And your cooking Heavenly.

Your table looks fabulous with the background of all of that pretty milk glass. There will just be 3 of us for TGiving, as the SIL has decided that they have "other" plans. No one knows what those plans are, but it is a good excuse to avoid me. The grandkids don't understand, and will probably end up with P & J. My menu will be Colorado pioneer traditional, just like we've always had -- turkey, dressing, potatoes, & gravy. I'll probably make a tossed salad just so everything isn't white! There will be enough food to carry us through the weekend. I mean who buys a 20# turkey for three people?? I'm sure the grandkids & Jenni will sneak over for leftovers on Friday. Take care. Sally
Looking good at the Adivari house for Thanksgiving. I just love your dining room. And all that milk glass. I think it was a smart decision to put the milk glass behind glass - I can't imagine how often it would have to be dusted.

Your table is beautiful, Sue. I have dishes that are very similar and will probably use them for my table next week. Loved your story...I can just see your poor daughter getting up in the middle of the night to get the turkey going! Your menu sounds delicious, especially the rutabaga, one of my favorite veggies. How do you prepare it...have you ever cubed it and baked it covered, with lots of butter, of course!

Love all your Thanksgiving pretties...the turkey tureen is beautiful. You got a much better deal on your turkey dishes than I did! Your table looks beautiful and I loved the story about your daughter! I had to have my mother talk me through my first turkey and I was grossed out most of the conversation. She still talks about, "I get the what out of where?!"

I collected it once when I was younger and sold it all in a yard sale sometime or another

Oh Sue...I came running over when I saw you mention to Ms. Alma, The Tablescaper, that you were showcasing your Milk Glass collection. I am pea green with envy...especially over that covered butter dish...it looks quilted!!
I thought I had a lot, but you're waaay ahead of me. My Mom had a few pieces & I've added to her collection over the years. I have a similar punchbowl with cups, but seldom have it out on display. I love how yours are the focal point of the entire room. Beautifully done!!
