TWO CHUCKWAGONS AND SOME BICARBONATE......

There is one thing I like about the South.....BBQ........ Me and the "Boss" being both Italian were foreign to BBQ before moving to Georgia....For the past 24 years we have been eating the "All You Can Eat" specials at Sonny's BBQ joint. Now Sonny's used to have something called The Chuckwagon......for $8.99 you could eat all you could of everything they served.....Yes, you heard me...all you could eat of ribs, pulled pork, chicken, turkey, fries, corn on the cob, baked beans, slaw, Brunswick stew and garlic toast....and I think I have left something out? Anyhoo, I recently read that Sonny's is going bankrupt so I told the husband we had to make sure we got our last meal before they close down. Last night we drove up to Woodstock (home of our 24 hr. Walmart) to find Sonny's had died......Locked up tighter then a drum Sonny's name was even removed from the side of the building....not to be discouraged we hopped on I-75 and drove down to the Big Chicken over on Cobb Parkway and are happy to announce that the Sonny's across the street from the Chicken is still alive and well.....No longer having the Chuckwagon...which could explain their bankruptcy problems....they were offering the "All You Can Eat Chicken".....At $7.99 you basically get everything they offer as sides plus the chicken.
Both me and Tiny ordered up, put a large stack of napkins beside us and picked our favorite squeeze bottle of BBQ sauce....The Boss likes Mild and I prefer the Sweet.....What occurred next should not be seen my children....We ate like we were both going to the Big House later in the evening....I think I saw sparks fly at one point when Tiny was buttering up his second ear of corn. He made me make a spectacle of myself by de-boning his chicken breast but in that surroundings no one even gave it a second thought...I alone went through 6 hand wipes before even finishing my meal....Just as we were ready to explode the waitress brought over 3 more plates with 2 breasts, 3 legs and 3 thighs....she was kidding, right? When we couldn't possibly eat another bite I asked her if they were just going to throw out all the un-touched chicken we couldn't eat, ofcourse I knew the answer was yes because we all know you can't get a doggie bag at an AYCE....she was very kind and brought us back a paper bag to bring bones home to the dog......wink, wink.....the funny thing was it really was for Boo, not the bones ofcourse but the chicken. Boo loves the chicken......After leaving the waitress a nice tip for her attentive service she *carried* us both out to the car and husband vowed not to eat again until February......me on the other hand promptly upon entering the house went for a bowl of coffee ice cream with chocolate jimmies.......Hey, a girls gotta have dessert!!

That's my problem with taking stuff to Goodwill - I always have to go in to see what they have! At least I drop off more than I pick up! Good for you in getting so organized this year- it feels good to get rid of clutter. I really hate having garage sales so I usually go the Goodwill route.

Glad you were able to find your dream food!
We have a great BBQ place here but they do not have all you can eat (My ample rump thanks them!)
but heck...it is still a taste treat.
Okay, it is now after 1am, I need to head off to bed and I have a hankerin' for BBQ. Thanks a LOT!! *laugh*
